New Application
Any organization complying with appropriate licensing and legal requirements may apply for registration as an IATA Cargo Agent in the country where the entity conducts its business. The criteria to become an IATA Cargo Agent in Hong Kong (SAR) and Macau (SAR) is governed by IATA Resolution 801, Section 1.  Detailed information on registration qualifications and procedures can be obtained below. Each applicant is required to complete an application form designed to determine the identification, ownership, facilities, staff, legal entity, financial standing, sales and promotion of each applicant.

Branch Registration
According to Resolution 801, all IATA registered Cargo Agents should register their Branch locations. To facilitate your compliance with this requirement, IATA now waives the registration fee for any branches registered during the launch campaign period: 01 January 2005 - 31 March 2005. To take advantage of the promotion, agents have to submit the following registration documents to IATA HK no later than 31 March 2005. Please attach one valid DGR certificate for each branch location

For applications after 01 April 2005, a one-time registration fee of USD125 for each branch will be applicable.

Financial Assessment
Applicants are required to furnish a set of audited accounts not more than six months old at the time of submission showing satisfactory financial standing and ability to remain solvent and pay bills. Applications or Agents who are unable to meet the financial criteria may be requested to provide additional financial support(s) before they can be approved or retained in the IATA Agency List.

Application for Changes
All changes to existing approved Agencies must be advised to IATA in advance of the effective date of such change to ensure the continuation of the normal trading relationship between Member Airlines and the approved Agent. These changes involve changes to the Trading Name, Legal Name, Ownership (new legal entity), Shareholding, Location. Changes are processed in accordance with the procedures approved under Resolution 801.  Upon completion, the Sales Agency List is amended and all Member Airlines and suppliers are updated on the relevant changes to the Agency.
