Strategic Partnerships

Under this area, Strategic Partners can participate in the e-services Task Force which brings airlines, systems providers and IATA ticketing specialists together to define a common approach to implementing global Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) standards.

This project aims to remove all paper documentation from the airline ticketing processes to create a paperless environment according to IATA's (EMD) standard. 

  • Successful adoption of the EMD standard within IATA Billing and Settlement Plans (BSPs) was achieved in November 2014.
  • The Virtual Multipurpose Document (vMPD) was phased out in June 2014 and is no longer accepted in IATA BSPs.  
  • 187 airlines have implemented the IATA EMD standard.
