The number of IATA member airlines in the Asia Pacific region continues to grow in 2016. Four airlines joined the association during the year, bringing the total number of IATA member airlines in Asia Pacific to 36.
The new IATA member airlines continue to broaden the diversity of IATA’s membership. T’Way Air based in South Korea, Thai Lion Air and VietJet are considered new model airlines, while Laos Airlines is the first airline from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to join IATA.
“We had a good year in the Asia Pacific region in 2016 with four airlines recognizing the value of the being an IATA member and joining as members. This year we want to build on this momentum and attract more airlines into our membership. We are in various stages of discussions with a number of them, and we look forward to welcoming them as members over the course of the year,” said Conrad Clifford, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific.
