Electronic tickets (ETs) and Electronic Miscellaneous Documents (EMDs) are the “back bone” of the industry systems and processes which support interline and indirect distribution. ETs and EMDs support the fulfilment and delivery of services, and settlement between agents and airlines, and between interline partners. The TKTcom develops and maintains business and technical standards related to the issuing and honoring of these documents. The committee is responsible for the development of standards and for publishing these standards as Resolutions and Recommended Practices (which are presented for adoption by the Passenger Services Conference). The committee also produces Implementation Guides and other publications.
Airline membership consists of experts responsible for the development of systems and ticketing procedures. Most of the Committee's activity now focuses on standards for 100 percent electronic ticketing and on developing new standards for Electronic Miscellaneous Documents.
Composition and Meetings
The Committee is open to IATA member airlines and strategic partners. The number of participants is not restricted and they meet at least once a year.
Sub-group
The hands-on work of the committee in investigating issues and developing proposals is undertaken by task forces that are created by the Ticketing Committee. Together, these task forces form the Ticketing Working Group (TKTWG). The scope of this work, and the membership and status of active task forces, is tracked on the Ticketing Working Group's Work Plan, and endorsed by the Committee at each meeting.
