Airline Retailing at IATA DDR Symposium

The IATA Digital, Data and Retailing Symposium (DDRS), held in Madrid, Spain last month, brought together 450-plus attendees for face-to-face sessions and attracted a further 150-plus who followed the event remotely.

One of the two main tracks was on Airline Retailing that addressed key industry topics and challenges.

Industry vision of Offers and Orders

The IATA white paper: An Industry vision for Offers and Orders (pdf) was launched at the DDRS event.

This document was prepared under the guidance of the IATA Distribution Advisory Council (DAC) and in consultation with several airlines, IT Providers and TMCs. It lays out the vision for 100% offers and orders for the industry. Read it and watch the video.

Looking ahead - Value creation in the journey

A series of interviews was performed during the DDRS event with some stakeholders who have embarked on the airline retailing journey.

Our first interviewed guest is Tamur Goudarzi-Pour (SVP Channel Management at Lufthansa Group Network Airlines and CCO SWISS and also IATA DAC Chair) discussing the Lufthansa Group’s vision of airline retailing.

Our second interviewed guest is Pieter Bootsma (Chief Revenue Officer, Air France-KLM) who discusses the airline retailing vision from Air France-KLM.

The Airline Retailing Maturity Index

As announced earlier this year, IATA has been working with distribution stakeholders to remodel NDC and ONE Order certification. The current NDC and ONE Order certifications are now integrated into the Airline Retailing Maturity (ARM) index with a broader scope covering airline retailing and value creation using offers and orders.

The below video shows the official launch of ARM index at the DDRS event in Madrid.
