Open Air has taken off!

9 airlines have already achieved Open Air certification and are spearheading the charge toward Open APIs in the airline industry. Airline leaders achieving certification are:

  • Lufthansa,
  • Swiss International Airlines,
  • Austrian Airlines,
  • Air France,
  • KLM,
  • Qantas Airways,
  • Singapore Airlines,
  • SilkAir,
  • Turkish Airlines.

The certification program is the first step towards building an Open API Ecosystem and it ensures travel industry entities are publishing API specifications in a consistent, trustworthy and easy to understand manner by potential business partners.

The first Open Air REST JSON API standard is also being finalized with the industry, including the first few standard API specifications. APIs for Flight Status, BSP NDC, and TIP Upfront Validation are in the pipeline to be the first Open Air certified IATA APIs in March.

The Open Air team will continue working on the creation of advanced directory services and API standard as they prepare for pilot testing in late 2020. For more information, please refer to the official Open Air webpage on iata.org.
