About the course
5-day (10 hours) LIVE virtual classroom course

Learn the true dangers of drone strikes and become proficient in global best practices for responding to, and handling, unauthorized or reckless use of unmanned aircraft (UA) / drones in close vicinity of aircraft and airports. With lessons based on example procedures, learn how you can define roles and responsibilities to counteract an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) incident, prepare response plans, and implement local protocols that fit your operation and local regulations.

Course format
- The live sessions of this virtual classroom course are delivered by an official IATA Instructor.
- The course will take you approximately 7.5 hours to complete and be held over 3 consecutive days.
- There will be 2 live interactive virtual classroom sessions per day, each session will be 75 minutes.
- The live sessions will require your participation, with multiple Q&A sessions and additional time spent on self-study material including projects, research, additional reading and videos.
- Student performance will be based on an assessment.

Prerequisites
- Recommended level is Intermediate.
- The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 for courses in English or the equivalent level for other languages.

- Evaluate how events of unauthorized UA should be used to improve the detection and response procedures

- Classification of different types of events of unauthorized UA and the level of involvement of the different actors
- Methodology and approach for conducting a risk assessment to identify level of response to an unauthorized UA
- How to tailor global model procedures to local processes
- Steps to recover operations at an airport after an unauthorized UA event has been contained
- Regional variations of UAs related regulations
- C-UAS technologies and the pre-requisites to implementation at an airport
- Investigation post events and analysis to improve measures for future events

Certificate awarded
An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher on an assessment. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
This course is a step toward earning an IATA Diploma
