Recent technical advancements now enable aircraft to accurately calculate the turbulence state of the atmosphere in flight. Many airlines are now in the process of adopting this reporting technology and using real-time turbulence data operationally with proven improvements to safety and efficiency. IATA is facilitating the industry shift to data driven turbulence mitigation by promoting the adoption of the open source turbulence reporting software as well as providing a means to share the data in real-time through Turbulence Aware.
This interactive knowledge sharing forum aims to explore current trends related to managing turbulence with real-time data generated by the aircraft. Airlines, turbulence reporting solution providers and integrators will have an opportunity to discuss best practices in turbulence data technology implementation based on open source turbulence algorithm, ways to use the data operationally through integrating it in various tools, different approaches to the business case, as well as data analytics. The two-day workshop will include in depth presentations from industry experts on turbulence reporting and operational use as well as updates from the IATA team on the latest and future development of Turbulence Aware.
Turbulence Aware is an IATA data exchange platform developed in close collaboration with airlines. Turbulence Aware receives real time turbulence reports from airlines globally and consolidates them into one deidentified dataset. The program is open to any airline, business aviation or aviation organization and is currently in a free operational trial which runs until the end of 2019.
We have a lot to share with you - from valuable insights to important updates on the latest Turbulence Aware developments. Please note that registration is limited based on first come first served basis.
