2019 Cargo Innovation Awards

This industry is no different from the others: it needs to reinvent itself, adapt to customer expectations, embrace new technologies, and challenge the status-quo to be more efficient and attractive. Innovation holds the key for air cargo development, suitability and success.

The third edition of the IATA Cargo Innovation Awards aims at encouraging new ideas to enrich customer experience and to improve the competitiveness of air logistics. Participants may win a chance to present their idea to the 2019 World Cargo Symposium (WCS) audience in Singapore and win up to 20,000 USD.

Winner announced 


The audience at the closing plenary of the 2019 World Cargo Symposium has selected the following idea as winner of the 3rd edition of the IATA Cargo Innovation Awards: 

  • Unilode Aviation Solutions – Digital Transformation

Finalists

The Award's independent jury shortlisted the following three ideas: 

  • Air New Zealand & AEROTUF – Keep it cool with aeroTHERM
  • SITA, Safran & CHAMP – Smart ULD 
  • Unilode Aviation Solutions – Digital Transformation 

IATA invited these three finalists to present their idea at the 2019 WCS in Singapore. For more information, read the Finalists Announcement (pdf).

What information should I include in my submission?

Check the Submission Checklist (pdf) and the Judging Criteria (pdf) to know more about the information you should include in your idea submission.

It is strongly recommended to include in your application a short video (1-2 minutes) pitching your business idea.

Is there a cost associated with participation to this contest?

No, participation is free of charge.

Can I submit more than one business idea?

Yes, entrants can submit more than one idea.

If my idea is a product already on the market, can I still submit it?

The competition is about new ideas, so if your product is on the market, it would have to be at the very early stages.

How can I increase my chances of getting to the final round?

Ideas that are aligned with one of the competition topics have the highest chance of getting through to the final round of this competition. Please refer to the Submission Checklist (pdf) for more details on what questions you should answer in your submission. We encourage participants to include a short video (max. 2 min) of themselves pitching their idea.


Jury Panel

The independent jury, including industry experts, academics and executives of leading logistics companies, will evaluate the entries received and shortlist three finalists. The delegates at the 2019 WCS will then choose the winning idea.
