The prime objective of the slot process is to allow airlines to acquire, retain and exchange slots necessary to operate at a given airport. Through the allocation of slots, limited airport resources are efficiently used to benefit the greatest number of airport users and travelers. The slot allocation policies and processes are detailed in the Worldwide Slot Guidelines (WSG).
The WSG provides the global air transport community with a single set of standards for the management of airport slots. A living document, WSG is reviewed on a regular basis to keep up with industry and regulatory changes.
