IATA/IATAN ID Card

Why the IATA/IATAN ID card?

The IATA/IATAN ID Card is the preferred means of recognition of travel professionals by the Industry.  The ID Card is often used to safely and efficiently verify a bona fide travel agent via CheckACode in order to assist industry supplier in the management, distribution and control of their industry concessions. In other words, travel agents will get the recognition they need to be eligible for suppliers travel agents educational and rewards program. 

Who is eligible?

Bona Fide Travel Professionals, devoting a minimum of 20 hours per week to the promotion and sale of Travel. Must be paid by salary and/or on a commission basis, and must show on the appropriate disbursement records of the Agency. Please, refer to Eligibility for more details.

How much does an ID Card cost?

The price of an ID Card may range from USD30.00 to USD70.00 depending on the class of agency you work for (additional courier fees may apply).

Application and Validity

How do I apply for an IATA/IATAN ID Card?

Starting March 3rd, 2014, you can apply for an IATA/IATAN ID Card online. The ID Card Online Platform will be available worldwide for all types of ID Card application.
 

What do I need to apply for the ID Card?

Before going on ID Card Online Platform, please ensure you have the following documents ready:
  • A digital photo must be a passport-standard size photo, in .JPEG format, and taken in the last 12 months
  • Proof of employment must be in .PDF format. For more details on proof of employment, please visit How to Apply.
Please note false declaration will lead to the cancellation and blacklisting of the card.

How do I pay for the ID Card?

You can to make payment online with Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

For travel agents in China, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Venezuela, payment by bank transfer will also be accepted. Please visit How to Apply for instruction on bank transfer.

How do I update the agency (company) profile if the information displayed is incorrect?

Please request your Regional Office on IATA Customer Portal to change the Agency profile information. You should not start the ID Card application before the Agency profile is correctly modified.

Note: If you no longer work at the Agency in our record, kindly continue with "Request a Change of Agency" application.

I am the agency’s manager/owner. Can I use my own name as “approving manager”?

Yes. Please be advised that random verification may be conducted based on the agency information we have on file.

When will I receive my ID Card?

Your ID Card will be processed and delivered within 3 to 6 weeks upon approval of the ID Card application and prepayment received.

If you need the ID Card to be expedited or have not received your ID Card after 6 weeks, please contact your Regional Office on IATA Customer Portal to notify us your request.

I have received my IATA/IATAN ID Card, but why is it being shown as invalid on CheckACode?

CheckACode is a web based validation system used for IATA numeric codes and IATA/IATAN ID Cards. Once you receive your ID Card, allow up to 10 business days for activation in this system. Visit CheckACode to verify the status of your card.

How long is an IATA/IATAN ID Card valid for?

The validity of an IATA/IATAN ID Card is 12 months.

Renewal and Changes on ID Card

I have an IATA/IATAN ID Card that is due to expire. When can I renew my ID Card?

You can renew your ID Card up to two months prior to the expiry date. Email renewal reminder will be sent to you 2 months prior to the expiry date. To renew, please visit ID Card Online Platform

How do I renew my IATA/IATAN ID Card?

For renewal, please visit ID Card Online Platform with the information on your existing ID Card. Please ensure you have the required documents for ID Card application. Visit How to Apply for details on required documents.

I have changed agency location, what do I do?

You can request a change of agency on ID Card Online Platform with your VER# and IATA numeric code. Please ensure you have the required documents for ID Card application. Visit How to Apply for details on required documents.

How can I update the email address?

The ID Card Portal will allow you to update your email address when renewing your ID Card; however, should you wish to update the email on file without renewing or replacing the ID Card, please contact your Regional Office on IATA Customer Portal to notify the email update.


Replacement of ID Cards

I have lost my ID Card, what do I do?

In case of loss or theft, you can request for a replacement on ID Card Portal.

Please note that a cost of USD20.00 (IATA)/USD30.00 (TIDS) will incur for ID Card replacement.
If your ID card is due to expire less than 2 months, you could choose to apply for an “early renewal”.

I got married and changed my last name, what do I do?

Congratulations! If you have changed your name change for whatever reason, you can request to reissue the ID Card on ID Card Online Platform with your VER# and IATA numeric code. Please ensure you have the required documents for ID Card application. Visit How to Apply for details on required documents.

ID Card Portal Support

I cannot upload my photo online, what do I do?

You may encounter the following error message when attempting to upload your photo:

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

While we are working to resolve the issue, you may wish to try restart the ID Card application on another internet browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

Should you still experience difficulty in uploading your photo in other internet browser, please contact your Regional Office on IATA Customer Portal to report the issue.

Benefits and AgentExperience

Can the IATA/IATAN ID Card be used for discounted airline tickets?

Yes, some airlines demand the card before granting concessions and upgrades. Please, refer to Resolution 880a of the IATA Travel Agent Handbook for more details.

What is AgentExperience?

AgentExperience is a private site allowing IATA/IATAN ID Card holders to view special offers from Travel & Tourism suppliers around the world. The benefits are numerous: incentives, discounts and privileges for this select group of travel professionals. For more details, Find out More!

Who's who in AgentExperience?

Only IATA/IATAN Travel Professionals holding a valid ID Card have full access to Agent Experience.

Industry Suppliers from around the world:

  • Accommodation such as resorts, hotels, motels, inns, bed & breakfast.
  • Transportation such as airlines, railways, cruise lines, coach and car rental companies.
  • Entertainment such as theme parks, zoos, museums, restaurants and other attractions.
  • Airport Services such as duty free, lounge, parking lot and other airport related services.

Can I change my account information on AgentExperience?

Yes. You can change your email address on AgentExperience account.Simply log into AgentExperience and click on My Account Tab.

Please note that updating your email address on AgentExperience does not automatically update the email address on your ID Card profile. Should you also wish to modify your email address on your ID Card profile, please contact your Regional Office on IATA Customer Portal to notify the change of email.

I cannot log in with the password provided to me. What do I do?

Please try again but remember to copy/paste the credentials and make sure there is no space after your login name & the password as the system considers space as a special character on the keyboard.

If it still doesn't work, you may reset your password by going to AgentExperience login page and click on "Forgot your password?" link. In the "Identity" Box, enter one of the following:

  • Your AgentExperience.com user name
  • The 10 digit VER# from the face of your IATA/IATAN ID Card
  • The email address associated to your AgentExperience account

Your new password will then be sent to the email address on file.

I have lost my password for AgentExperience. Can I obtain a new one?

Yes, all you have to do is go to the AgentExperience and click on "Forgot your password?" link. In the "Identity" Box, enter one of the following:
  • Your AgentExperience.com user name
  • The 10 digit VER# from the face of your IATA/IATAN ID Card
  • The email address associated to your AgentExperience account

Your new password will then be sent to the email address on file.

My password is being sent to an email address that I no longer have access to. What do I do?

In this case, an AgentExperience administrator will have to change your email information manually before you can obtain your new password. Use the Contact Us form to request this change on your profile.
