IATA's Competency Based Training for Dangerous Goods Inspectors course provides you with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to effectively validate and approve training systems, processes, procedures, course materials and content in accordance with the CBTA approach. You will be equipped to conduct inspections, oversight, or audits of any dangerous goods training program to ensure compliance with regulations. Inspectors play a critical role in ensuring compliance with national and international regulations for dangerous goods training programs within their jurisdiction. With the adoption of the ICAO Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) approach to dangerous goods, the importance of an inspector's functions has only increased.

Course format

  • The live sessions of this virtual classroom course are delivered by an official IATA Instructor.
  • The course will take you approximately 30 hours to complete and be held over 5 consecutive days.
  • There will be 2 live interactive virtual classroom sessions per day, each session will be 180 minutes.
  • The live sessions will require your participation, with multiple Q&A sessions and additional time spent on self-study material including projects, research, additional reading and videos.
  • Student performance will be based on an assessment.

Prerequisites

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the process related to dangerous goods training approval or validation.
  • Recommended level is Intermediate.
  • The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 for courses in English or the equivalent level for other languages.

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 80% or higher on an assessment. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
