Guidance Material on Microbiological Contamination in Aircraft Fuel Tanks (GM-MCAFT)

This publication provides guidance for the removal and analysis of the composition of engine fuel filters debris and their categorization. Results allow identifying the sources of problems affecting aircraft fuel systems and ensuring key identification of root causes to ensure safe ongoing operations.

This guidance draws on the experience of operators to better understand the risks of microbial contamination in aircraft fuel tanks, depending on operating conditions including parking of aircraft as happened during the COVID pandemic.
