IATA carries out many activities to support its Member Airlines in terms of flight operations, safety as well as airports and ATM infrastructure. The topics include security, airports, air navigation facilities, services and procedures as well as impacts of global developments on regional operations. The regional office works closely with the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) European and North Atlantic office in Paris and maintains working relationships with European airspace user organizations, ACI (Airports Council International Europe) and the CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organization) regional office. The IATA European office also regularly liaises with the EC (European Commission), Eurocontrol (European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation) and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) for all undertakings related to the safe, efficient, coordinated and cost-effective operations of aircraft.

  • The promotion of IATA safety activities and initiatives
  • The promotion of Air Traffic Management efficiency and Cost Management
  • The advocacy of Single European Sky implementation
  • The improvement of Air Traffic Services Route Network
  • Attending to Airlines Operational Requests for the benefit of the region as a whole

Composition and Meetings

This working group is open to IATA member airlines and industry stakeholders as technical observers that add specific expertise. The number of participants is limited to 15 and they meet twice a year.
