IATA wishes to thank ICAO for all the hard work that has gone into the CAAF/3 process, for an excellent CAAF/3 conference, and for the interest shown in the views expressed by our industry.

We congratulate ICAO on the outcome and are now keen to see the ICAO member States adopting the policies that will deliver the vision.

As we have stated numerous times, airlines stand ready with open arms to catch the SAF production that will result from such policies because we stand united, together with ICAO Member States, in our common goal of delivering sustainable aviation.

To this effect, IATA wishes to see maximum SAF production on every continent, and access to this SAF production to all airlines around the world.

Where government money leads, private money will follow. There is an urgent need for States to balance the support they provide to the energy sector, and at the very least make it equal across energy sources. Preferably, States should even skew such support in favor of renewable energies in general, and ensure SAFs their fair share of the total, in line with the ICAO global vision.

IATA looks forward to seeing ICAO member States implement predictable, long-term, and harmonized policy frameworks that are positive – not punitive – and that maximize SAF production in all its shapes and forms. By promoting competition and fostering innovation, governments can ensure that SAF replaces as much as 80% of fossil fuel use in air transportation by 2050. That is just over 26 years from now.

Alea iacta est, we have already crossed the Rubicon, because with only 26 years to go, the time to act is truly now.

Let’s make it happen - together!
