Geneva - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomed today’s announcement of a draft aviation agreement between the US and the EU as a first step in the right direction for liberalisation.

IATA has long sought for liberalisation of the industry, calling on the US and the EU to lead the way. Giovanni Bisignani, IATA’s Director General & CEO made the following comment: "Airlines are businesses. Like any business, the ability to respond flexibly to consumer demand is critical to success. Today's agreement is a good start but both sides must think bigger and lead the way."
