Celebrating 50 years: The evolution of standards for live animals transported by air

The IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) has set the industry standards for over 50 years. Today, thousands of animal species and various insect types are routinely transported across the globe. Whether it's flying wild and endangered species to their natural habitats, re-introducing critical species to promote biodiversity, or reuniting pets with their families, the demand for live animal transportation is both in-demand and necessary. For more than 50 years, the IATA LAR has been a vital resource in ensuring the safe air transport of live animals and will continue to serve the needs of this precious cargo, for many years to come.
