On 15 January 2018 at Vienna International Airport, Mathias Jakobi, IATA Area Manager of Central Europe had the privilege to handover IATA Fast Travel Platinum Award to Austrian Airlines represented by Dr. Andreas Otto, COO of Austrian Airlines.

In order to receive these awards, an airline must have completed all six Fast Travel projects designed to enhance passenger experience:
IATA Fast Travel program addresses passenger demands for more choice, convenience and control through self-service options. The vision is that "by 2020, 80% of global passengers will be offered a complete range of self-service options throughout their journey to provide better convenience, reduce queues and ultimately improve punctuality".
Only 16 airlines in the world reached this highest IATA status, 5 of which are from Europe.
