The aerospace sector has done good work in the area of improving gender parity including OEMs. But airlines have to make a much bigger effort. In a packed room of almost 1,000 people, just a handful of women self-identified as being at the C-Suite level. Industry has to accelerate training and find ways to bring more women into the airline workforce.

In order to interest young girls, parents need to introduce STEM subjects to their daughters in the same way they would to their sons. Awareness of aviation from a young age can even be done in other ways, such as what Qantas did creating an all-girl choir.

Networking organizations such as the International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) can show by example how aviation careers include women at all levels of the corporate ladder.
