The IATA Future Air Cargo Executives (FACE) Program continues to play a key role in developing the next generation of industry leaders. A recent milestone was the FACE Summit held in Lima in March, alongside the IATA World Cargo Symposium, which brought together over 50 young professionals from across the global air cargo ecosystem, with notably strong participation from Peru.
The summit focused on three core themes: people and talent, perishables logistics, and digitalization, including AI adoption. Discussions highlighted the importance of embracing non-linear career paths, continuous learning, and adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry. Participants emphasized that while automation and AI are accelerating, human capabilities, such as creativity, initiative, and critical thinking, remain essential.
A key outcome of the summit was a set of 10 practical takeaways (LinkedIn) for future air cargo executives. These include staying curious, investing in personal development, keeping pace with technology, and being willing to step forward and lead. Collaboration and knowledge exchange were also identified as critical enablers of innovation and progress.
Building on these insights, IATA is preparing a FACE whitepaper, which will capture the discussions and provide actionable recommendations on talent development, perishables, and digital transformation. This upcoming publication will serve as a valuable guide for shaping the future of air cargo leadership.
