ONE Record Adoption from Concept to Implementation
The air cargo industry is moving from concept to implementation in its adoption of IATA’s ONE Record standard. The industry preferred data-sharing model is designed to replace fragmented messaging with a single source of truth for each shipment. Airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, customs authorities & service providers have now begun to integrate ONE Record into daily operations.
A leading example comes from Cathay Cargo & GLS HK, who have implemented the first customs-data use case, allowing for the real-time sharing of customs clearance statuses using the ONE Record data sharing standard. This digital exchange eliminates manual updates, enhances visibility for customers & freight forwarders, and showcases how the standard can make regulatory processes faster and more transparent.
To build momentum on the journey to critical mass, IATA’s Digitalization Leadership Charter (DLC) is bringing together global industry leaders to guide specific use cases to help focus implementation efforts. IATA is supporting this effort with technical guidelines and dedicated training programs to help organizations adopt the standard efficiently.
The ONE Record training portfolio includes introductory and implementation-focused courses covering API design, data modeling, and compliance best practices.
