The IATA/IATAN ID Card is an internationally recognized identification for travel professionals.
The eligibility requirements to become a member of the ID Card Program vary by location. The IATA/IATAN ID Card is reserved for travel professionals working at IATA Accredited agencies who meet eligibility requirements. This helps maintain professional integrity and trust within the travel industry.
By regulating access, the card ensures that only genuine professionals can use it, making it easier for industry suppliers to identify and collaborate with legitimate cardholders.
Eligibility criteria
- Owners, employees, or independent contractors at a travel agency with a valid IATA Code
- You must be registered in the Agency Personnel List
- Work at least 20 hours per week in the travel sales business
- Earn a minimum of USD 5,000 in salary and/or commissions in the past 12 months
- Be at least 18 years old
A note for all applicants, a false declaration in the ID Card Application will result in blacklisting and cancellation of the ID Card.
Prior to making your application
In order to obtain an IATA ID Card, applicants must be working at a travel agency with a valid IATA Code.
Eligibility criteria
- Owners, partners, stockholders, and shareholders of travel agencies (minimum 20% ownership as per IATA records)
- Independent consultants contracted to travel agencies, adhering to legal requirements
- Hold a paid position at the travel agency overseeing travel agency administration, marketing, finance, operations, or sales
- ID Card Applications require a valid and unique email address for completion.
- Be at least 18 years old when applying
- Applicants must work a minimum of 20 hours per week at the agency.
- (Canadian applicants) Earn a minimum of CAD 5,000 in salary and/or commissions in the past 12 months
- Before starting your application, check with your agency to see if there are any additional requirements beyond the IATA guidelines.
Supporting documentation
- All applicants, except Sole Owner, Partners, Stockholders, Shareholders, must provide proof of employment.
- Proof of employment must be in PDF format and dated within 3 months of the application date.
- Acceptable proofs include an official letter of employment signed by your manager, including your full name, company name, date, and weekly hours. Alternatively a payslip or payment record showing your full name, company name, and date.
