How to get an IATA/IATAN ID Card?

Eligibility criteria will vary for US and international applicants, go to the eligibility page for full details.

  • Must work at least 20 hours per week in travel-related roles.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and paid by the agency.
  • Additional internal requirements may apply.

There are a number of required documents that vary based on your location:

  • Proof of employment (except for US-based agents).
  • Digital photo: 
    • Taken in the last 12 months.
    • Plain white or off-white background.
    • Full-face view, no profiles.
    • No hats or sunglasses.
    • At least 300 x 400 pixels.

  • Ranges from USD 30 to USD 70, depending on agency class.
  • Additional courier fees may apply.

We only accept the following payment methods:

  • Visa.
  • Mastercard.
  • American Express.

This will vary by region and vary based on the physical or digital card. Please be aware a physical card is not available outside the US or Canada.

  • Physical/Printed ID Card:
    • Not available outside Canada and the US.
    • Delivery: 3 to 6 weeks for US and Canadian agents.
    • Notify IATA if not received within 3 months after paying for the ID Card. 
  • Digital ID Card:
    • US agents: Available 24-48 business hours after payment.
    • Non-US agents: Available  immediately after application approval.
    • Access via the ID Card Benefits website or app. 
  • No, the physical card can only be sent to the registered agency address.
  • Home-based agents should coordinate with their manager for forwarding.

Details about the IATA/IATAN ID Card

Data captured on the card includes:

  • Cardholder's name.
  • Verification Number (VER #).
  • Cardholder's photo.
  • IATA Agency Codes.
  • Agency name.
  • Card expiry date.
  • Other relevant information.
