Airport Terminal Planning and Design

The passenger terminal is one of the most important, complicated and costly elements of an airport, and serves as the link between air and surface modes of travel. How a terminal is planned and designed is critical to determine if an airport is successful in efficiently meeting its user’s future needs. This course provides a comprehensive overview of airport terminal planning and design and will appeal to those that would like a more in-depth understanding of the subject or build upon existing experience by expanding their knowledge of specific topics. The curriculum is based on the latest global standards from the 11th edition of the Airport Development Reference Manual (ADRM) and will help you understand the key concepts and considerations involved.

Course format

• This classroom course provides 5 days (40 hours) of instruction delivered by an official IATA Instructor.
• Take this course at an IATA Training Center, Regional Training Partner, or on-demand as in-house training.
• Student performance will be based on an assessment.

Prerequisites

• Participants should have basic knowledge and experience on airport infrastructure and operations.
• Recommended level is Intermediate and Advanced.
• The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 for courses in English or the equivalent level for other languages.

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
