Candidates must complete 2 Required and 2 Elective courses within three years.

A candidate must achieve a passing mark of 60% on eLearning exams or 80% on the Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Category 3 exam on the first exam attempt. A special distinction is awarded to candidates that obtain a distinction in all, or all but one, of all exams and assignments that make up this Diploma

How to obtain your diploma

  1. Complete all 2 Required and 2 selected Elective courses that make up the Diploma, within 3 years.
  2. Please contact us on our Customer Portal to request your diploma, stating the title of the diploma you are applying for and the list of courses you completed for that diploma.
  3. IATA Training will issue your diploma upon verification of your eligibility.

Cargo Introductory course (partner-taught or self-study)

Learn about basic IATA cargo rules and procedures, how freight forwarders and airline cargo units operate, plus much more.

Learn about product and transport process temperature ranges, packaging technologies, key risk factors and critical control points in pharma handling process.

Elective courses

Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Initial Category 3 Course (partner-taught or self-study)

This course fulfills ICAO and IATA training requirements and qualifies you to handle and process dangerous goods for carriage of by air for a 24-month period.

Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Recurrent Category 3 with DGR Manual (partner-taught or self-study)

Completing this course fulfills ICAO and IATA training requirements and extends your qualification to handle and process dangerous goods for an additional 24 months.

Infectious Substances Shipping Guidelines Course (partner-taught or self-study)

Examine technical aspects and how to ship infectious substances by air (Division 6.2).
