Skymetrix: The new name in fuel and cost management

Having merged in June 2021, aviation fuel and cost management specialists, FuelPlus and Airpas, have now unveiled their new company name — Skymetrix — and their proposition for the industry. Skymetrix promises to transform fuel and cost management for airlines, with one platform that delivers benefits beyond profitability.

Skymetrix will be led by newly appointed CEO, Michael Scheidler, who started his career at Lufthansa and has held senior roles at Thomas Cook, Rivus Fleet Solutions and EO Charging — one of Europe’s fastest growing companies. Michael explains the aims of this new company: “At Skymetrix, our focus is to deliver next-level fuel and cost management in the aviation industry. This will be unrecognisable from the outdated practices that are often in place and enables our customers to achieve their specific priorities and objectives. We do this by excelling in four key areas: customer success, technology innovation, aviation expertise and customer collaboration.”

Skymetrix has 20+ years’ experience in the industry and over 100 airline customers, including Lufthansa, Ryanair, Emirates and Spirit Airlines. Its cloud-based platform automates the collection and verification of fuel, airport, ground handling, navigation and other cost data, to improve accuracy and save airlines time. It also provides detailed insights on that data, to power decision-making.

Chief Commercial Officer, Michael Charalambous, explains why Skymetrix has a compelling offer for airlines today: “Since the pandemic, cost management has become even more critical for survival. By having a single view of all your costs, and really understanding where you are making or losing money, you can make fact-based decisions with an immediate impact on the bottom line.”

In addition to its new CEO, Skymetrix has further strengthened its leadership team with a new Chief Financial Officer, Philip Grindley — who has worked previously for KPMG, Grant Thornton and PwC — and a new Advisory Board Chairman, Ian Wheeler: an experienced chairman and investor in the travel and technology sectors. The former CEO of FuelPlus, Klaus-Peter Warnke, moves to the advisory board of the company.
