Etihad Becomes First Airline in Africa and the Middle East to be Certified in 3 CEIV Programs.

Animal transportation by air is considered to be the most humane and expedient method of transportation over long distances. However, it doesn't come without its challenges which are due to the very specific requirements that supply chain stakeholders need to abide by to ensure animal safety and welfare while being transported by air.

As such, and driven by industry standards, the Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) for Live Animals Logistics established baseline standards to improve the level of competency, infrastructure and quality management in the handling and transportation of live animals throughout the supply chain.

Recently, Etihad Airways have signed on for CEIV Live Animals, making it the third CEIV certification it completes and giving them the opportunity to become the first airline in Africa and the Middle East, and second airline worldwide to be certified on all 3 CEIV programs (Pharma, Live Animals, Fresh).

The CEIV Live Animals program is based on the IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR), international and national standards and requirements and worldwide standard for transporting live animals by air.
