It comprises one section for each of the Global High Risk Categories (G-HRC) such as: Loss of Control In-Flight, Controlled Flight into Terrain, and Runway Excursions. IATA uses OAG as its main source for sector data. Figures may change more than usual as updated information becomes available or if the data source changes. These updates may affect global and regional accident rates and fatality risk calculations.

Interactive Recommendations for Accident Prevention

IATA has enhanced the former static PDF containing accident‑prevention recommendations by converting it into an interactive, user-friendly spreadsheet. This updated version of the Recommendations for Accident Prevention consolidates recommendations developed by the Accident Classification Task Force (ACTF) along with those generated through the Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs).

This spreadsheet enables users to apply filters across one or multiple End States or precursors, ensuring that the information displayed is tailored to their specific analytical needs. The spreadsheet is also designed to support gap‑analysis activities by allowing users to compare existing recommendations against identified risk areas and operational needs and to see whether they have considered or implemented the recommendations as appropriate. Additionally, a “click‑to‑email support” feature is included to allow users to easily contact IATA for further assistance.

Safety Recommendations from Accident Investigation Final Reports

To further strengthen industry‑wide learning and complement the accident‑prevention recommendations, IATA has developed a dedicated Safety Recommendations from Accident Investigation platform presenting recommendations extracted from final accident investigation reports.

These tools collectively aim to enhance industry‑wide learning and reinforce the aviation sector’s ability to reference and apply IATA’s safety initiatives. Accident investigation reports have already referenced IATA’s work, underscoring its relevance and practical value. By consolidating these resources in a single, accessible location, IATA seeks to support the global aviation community in leveraging these insights to improve safety performance.
