The IATA Dangerous Goods On-the-Job Trainer & Competency Assessor Course is designed to equip aviation professionals with the skills to develop and deliver effective on-the-job training (OJT) programs, perform structured and consistent assessments of learning against defined competencies and required proficiency levels for dangerous goods activities, and ensure safety standards are met. You will learn to identify training needs, facilitate practical sessions, evaluate performance, provide constructive feedback and document outcomes. The course covers Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), competency-based training, assessment techniques and the role of a supervisor as both mentor and assessor, fostering trainee development and improving overall performance.

Course format

  • The live sessions of this virtual classroom course are delivered by an official IATA Instructor.
  • The course will take you approximately 18 hours to complete and be held over 3 consecutive days.
  • There will be 2 live interactive virtual classroom sessions per day, each session will be 180 minutes.
  • The live sessions will require your participation, with multiple Q&A sessions and additional time spent on self-study material including projects, research, additional reading and videos.
  • Student performance will be based on an assessment.

Prerequisites

  • Certified individuals holding a valid Dangerous Goods (DG) certificate relevant to their specific functions, or those who can provide evidence of having completed appropriate dangerous goods training.
  • Recommended level is Intermediate and Advanced.
  • The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 or the equivalent for courses held in languages other than English.

Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 80% or higher on an assessment. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher.
