Carbon credits are a necessary lever of aviation decarbonization journey. ACE was launched in 2020 with the objective of supporting airlines in this space: allowing airlines to purchase both carbon credits for voluntary purposes as well as for complying with Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), world’s only globally harmonized market-based measure for international aviation. With 2 million carbon credits offered daily, airlines and aviation stakeholders can access a wider range of available transaction options, suited to their carbon procurement strategy.
We are delighted to see that more airlines find their way to ACE, which allows them to meet their different procurement needs in an easy, flexible, and secure manner. In this newsletter, we will walk through some of the key functionalities of ACE, including the new enhancements, and how this all fits into the big picture of aviation decarbonization and carbon markets. Happy reading!

New! Airlines onboarded to ACE can as of now use the following member badge. ACE members can use this badge to signal their sustainability leadership – and participation at the scheme - at their website, marketing collaterals or email signatures, for example.

Since 2024 IATA has hosted several CORSIA Eligible Emissions Unit (EEU) procurement events for airlines through the IATA Aviation Carbon Exchange (ACE) platform. These events were designed to provide airlines with a simple and efficient way to purchase CORSIA-eligible emissions units and meet their compliance obligations at a time when eligible credits were limited in supply.
While these procurement events have been successful, and IATA will continue to offer them as long as there is market interest, the landscape has evolved significantly. Today, a broad range of CORSIA-eligible credits is available through ACE across multiple project types and geographic regions, and airlines' procurement strategies have become increasingly sophisticated. In response to these developments, ACE now offers airlines greater flexibility in how they source CORSIA credits beyond the periodic procurement events. In addition to procurement windows with fixed pricing, airlines can monitor market conditions in real time and transact whenever it best aligns with their procurement objectives.
Through ACE, airlines can purchase CORSIA credits directly on-screen, negotiate transactions, report and settle over-the-counter trades, launch Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and access deferred payment solutions for future deliveries. The platform continues to provide the same core procurement capabilities that characterized the original events, now enhanced by dynamic pricing, greater flexibility, and dedicated support from the ACE team throughout the process.
IATA & Xpansiv are launching a new CORSIA procurement event via ACE, IATA Aviation Carbon Exchange, which will be run throughout November 2026. This will allow airlines to purchase CORSIA EEUs compliant with the Phase I. Detailed information on available projects will be made available by 21 October. Contact ACE to find out more information regarding how to gain access to the Procurement Event or to start the onboarding process for access to ACE.
Do you know that airlines can also subscribe to a free Weekly CORSIA email that provides an overview of all CORSIA EEUs available on ACE? Offers are delivered to your mailbox every Monday. Review available EEUs and submit bids or counter-bids directly - no intermediaries required. A sneak peek below:
World Sustainability Symposium & Wings of Change Europe on 13-14 October in Brussels, Belgium
IATA's World Sustainability Symposium (WSS) brings together industry and governments to debate and discuss the key enablers for aviation’s successful decarbonization. This year, the WSS experience is elevated with complimentary access to Wings of Change Europe (WOCE), IATA’s leading European advocacy forum, happening in the same venue, on the following day, 15 October.
CO2 Data Workshop, Thursday 19 November 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland
In this flagship event around CO2 emissions data for aviation industry experts will discuss practical use cases of CO2 data across aviation from passenger transparency and regulatory compliance to cargo, SAF and carbon credits. Register here.
