The Flight Operations data eXchange (FOX) is a new initiative within IATA’s Global Aviation Data Management (GADM) program.

FOX enables airlines to securely share and analyze operational flight planning data to unlock deeper operational insights. By integrating planning, operational, and aircraft-specific data, FOX provides a new layer of intelligence to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and industry-wide collaboration.

Need Help?

What is FOX?

FOX is a voluntary data-sharing program designed to capture key flight operations inputs, including:

  • Operational flight plans in XML format
  • Weight & balance data in XML format
  • Aircraft configuration data in CSV format (e.g. winglets, sharklets)

This data complements existing GADM datasets and enables more advanced analytics that link planned versus actual performance, providing new insight into airline operations.

Why Join FOX?

Participating in FOX enables airlines to unlock value from their operational data while contributing to industry-wide improvement.

Key benefits include:

  • Enhance operational decision-making: Access richer insights combining planning and execution data.
  • Improve fuel efficiency and cost performance with increased accuracy of key performance metrics and fuel analysis.
  • Optimize flight operations and route planning: Understand deviations between planned and actual performance and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Strengthen ATM performance: Identify inefficiencies in airspace usage, routing, and flight phases

Who Should Join?

FOX is designed for airlines:

  • Committed to data-driven operations and continuous improvement
  • Looking to strengthen their analytics capabilities
  • Seeking to improve fuel efficiency and operational performance
  • Ideally, already participating in GADM programs (FDX, FuelIS)
