How SalamAir Enhanced IOSA Audit Capabilities

“The IOSA Airline Auditor Training enabled our team to adopt a more structured and evidence-based approach to auditing. It strengthened our internal capabilities and increased our confidence in assessing compliance across various operational areas."
Khalid Alfarqani, Quality Assurance Manager, SalamAir

Strengthening Quality Assurance

As SalamAir continues to grow operationally and navigate an expanding regulatory environment, maintaining strong audit capabilities has become increasingly important. To support this objective, the airline invested in strengthening the technical expertise of its Quality Department - particularly in relation to IATA’s IOSA Program and its rigorous auditing framework.

To ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of compliance and audit effectiveness, SalamAir enrolled four members of its Quality Department in the IATA IOSA Auditor Training. The goal was clear: align internal audit practices with internationally recognized IOSA methodologies and equip auditors with the specialized skills required to assess operational disciplines effectively.

The Challenge: Supporting Growth with Stronger Audit Capabilities

SalamAir’s continued operational growth highlighted the need to further enhance the capabilities of its internal audit function. As regulatory expectations evolve and operational complexity increases, maintaining strong IOSA readiness and regulatory confidence became a key priority. The Quality Department recognized that strengthening auditors’ technical expertise and standardizing internal audit practices would help ensure consistent compliance monitoring across operational areas.

The Solution: IOSA Auditor Training for the Quality Team

To address this need, SalamAir selected the IATA IOSA Auditor Training program. The program was considered the most appropriate option due to its global recognition, structured methodology, and strong focus on process-based auditing. The training session took place in person at the IATA Training Center in Abu Dhabi, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the instructor and fellow aviation professionals while exploring IOSA auditing methodologies in a practical learning environment.

Representing key operational auditing roles within the organization, four members of the Quality Department participated in the training with the objective of:

  • Enhancing technical knowledge of IOSA standards
  • Strengthening audit consistency across operational areas
  • Supporting a more structured and evidence-based audit approach
  • Ensuring alignment with internationally recognized aviation auditing practices

The training also provided participants with deeper insight into IOSA standards, auditing techniques, and industry best practices used across the aviation sector.

The Results: More Structured and Effective Internal Audit

Since completing the IOSA training, SalamAir has strengthened its ability to conduct structured, evidence-based, and process-oriented internal audits.

The training has enabled the Quality team to:

  • Apply more systematic auditing methodologies
  • Improve oversight of operational compliance
  • Strengthen internal monitoring processes
  • Enhance the organization’s overall IOSA readiness

The enhanced expertise has also supported the department’s approach of assigning dedicated auditors to specific operational disciplines. This allows auditors to develop deeper expertise in particular areas and provides more focused oversight of operational risks.

Strengthening Compliance and Safety Culture

Overall, the investment in IOSA Auditor Training has reinforced SalamAir’s IOSA readiness and strengthened the credibility of its internal audit processes.

By aligning its auditing practices with internationally recognized standards, the airline has further embedded a strong safety and quality culture across the organization while ensuring sustained compliance with global aviation requirements.

Given the practical value and industry relevance of the program, the training is considered highly beneficial for airlines seeking to enhance their audit capabilities and maintain strong regulatory alignment.
