IATA Air Cargo Security aviation training course

In today’s evolving threat landscape, safeguarding air cargo and global supply chains is critical to keeping operations safe, efficient, and compliant. This 5-day (40-hour) classroom course on Air Cargo and Supply Chain Security provides a solid, practical understanding of how to build and maintain a secure air cargo supply chain, aligned with international standards such as ICAO Annex 17 – Aviation Security. Through expert-led sessions, group discussions, and realistic cargo-focused exercises, you will learn to identify current and emerging threats, conduct risk assessments, and apply effective security measures across your cargo and mail operations. The course covers secure supply chain concepts, Regulated Agent and Known Consignor roles, screening methods, air mail security, and access control, helping you translate regulatory requirements into day-to-day practice. Designed for security staff and managers from airlines, air cargo service providers, supply chain partners, authorities, and security contractors, this intermediate-level course will equip you to strengthen oversight, enhance resilience, and support global compliance. The course can also be customized for your organization and delivered at a location of your choice to reflect your specific operational and regulatory environment.

Course format

  • The live sessions of this virtual classroom course are delivered by an official IATA Instructor.
  • The course will take you approximately 18 hours to complete and be held over 4 consecutive days.
  • There will be 2 live interactive virtual classroom sessions per day, each session will be 120 minutes.
  • The live sessions will require your participation, with multiple Q&A sessions and additional time spent on self-study material including projects, research, additional reading and videos.
  • Student performance will be based on an assessment.

Prerequisites

  • Recommended level is Intermediate.
  • The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 for courses in English or the equivalent level for other languages.
