About the course

4-day (16 hours) LIVE virtual classroom course

IATA Airport Slot Management and Coordination aviation training course

When airline demand exceeds the capacity of an airport, coordination is introduced to manage planned operations. Coordination involves the allocation of limited airport capacity to aircraft operators through ‘slot coordination’ to ensure viable operations. Effective slot coordination will maximize the efficient use of airport infrastructure. This course will help you learn how to apply for or allocate airport slots by applying the Worldwide Airport Slot Guidelines (WASG) and Standard Schedules Information Manual (SSIM). These are the global standard principles and procedures of airport slot management and the technical standard for communicating between airlines and slot coordinators.

I cannot even begin to describe how beneficial the Airport Slots and Coordination course was to me. Working for an airline that is relatively new to international flying, we’ve yet to have a formal venue to learn about worldwide best practices. Our instructor was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects surrounding the slots process and included several real-world examples to demonstrate various parts of the procedures. It was obvious that she was passionate about each member of the class succeeding. Furthermore, I found the unique opportunity for classroom dialogue between schedulers, coordinators, and facilitators to be invaluable. In fact, I was able to use specific aspects of the training in my job the very next day. I would highly recommend this course to any colleague who is interested in furthering their knowledge of the IATA World Slot Guidelines.

I would like to thank IATA and our instructor for the Slot Coordination course which was a great opportunity to increase my knowledge and improve my skills on the same topic. This has helped me to reduce my workload and attain much better results to allocate suitable slots. During the course, the instructor shared her extensive experience which I'm now able to reference when I perform my daily tasks.
