The Plan Standards Board manages the development of standards concerning any interaction between airlines and any other parties for the purposes of exchanging information about which services are intended to be made available and to whom; and the management of any corresponding reference data.
This includes but is not limited to schedules publication standards, slot messaging standards, minimum connect time standards, industry coding, and airline product management standards.

The Industry Coding Working Group:
- Deals with matters concerning industry coding, including the associated business requirements including but not limited to airline designators, accounting codes and prefixes; location codes; and baggage tag issuance codes.
- Reviews and endorses proposals to create or amend standards governing these processes. Ensures that proposals align with existing standards.
- Reviews and endorses proposals to amend Resolution 762, 763, 767, 769 and Recommended Practice 1752.
- Liaises with other process owning groups under any Conference, and advisory groups under Industry Committees.
- Explores changes to industry coding systems to support sustainability, and supports the new and evolving coding requirements of emerging distribution standards.
- Advises IATA Management on interpretation and clarification of Coding standards where required.
- Maintains a work plan and reports regularly to Plan Standards Board.

The Schedules Publication Working Group
SPG is responsible for the development procedures and formats for the exchange of schedules data messaging and Minimum Connect Time (MCT) standards, maintained withing the Standards Schedules Information Manual (SSIM). SPG also recommends amendments to aircraft type codes , airport passenger terminal codes, time zone information and region codes published as part of SSIM standards. The SSIM is published yearly in March however the SSIM Web application will receive updated content throughout the year.
The SPG meets in-person annually at the June Slot Conference event. The Slot Conference (SC) is a working conference.
- Deals with matters concerning Airline schedule and Minimum Connect Time data standards used by airlines, GDSs and data aggregators including the associated business requirements.
- Reviews and proposes amendments to IATA codes in particular the Aircraft Types, Passenger Terminal Indicators, Region Codes and UTC-Local Time Comparisons.
- Reviews, proposes and manages Meal and Inflight Service codes and Service Type codes.
- Reviews and endorses proposals to create or amend standards governing these processes. Ensures that proposals align with existing standards and that requirements and are documented with a corresponding change to Implementation Guidance where applicable.

- Reviews proposals and develops recommendations to amend other related Resolutions and Recommended Practices.

Schedules Data Exchange Working Group (SDEX)
The SDEX Working Group develops business requirements for schemas and maintains implementation guides for Scheduling and Minimum Connect Time messages (SSIM Chapters 2-5, 7 and 8).

The Slot Messaging Working Group
The Slot Messaging Group is responsible for the development of messaging standards related to Airport slot/schedule coordination between airlines, airport coordinators and facilitators maintained within the Standard Schedules Information Manual (SSIM). The SMG also reviews and proposes amendments to IATA codes in particular the Aircraft Types, Passenger Terminal Indicators, Region Codes and UTC-Local Time Comparisons as well as manages Service Type codes, Additional Information codes and Coordinator Reason codes (SAL/SAQ/SCR/SHL) published as part of the SSIM standards. The SSIM is published yearly in March however the SSIM Web application will receive updated content throughout the year.
The SMG meets in-person annually at the June Slot Conference event. The Slot Conference (SC) is a working conference. As part of the slot process and SSIM standards the conference provides a forum for the allocation of slots at fully coordinated airports (Level 3), and for the reaching of consensus on the schedule adjustments necessary to conform to airport capacity limitations (Level 2).

- Reviews, proposes and manages Service Type codes, Additional Information codes and Coordinator Reason codes (SAL/SAQ/SCR/SHL).
- Reviews and endorses proposals to create or amend standards governing these processes. Ensure that proposals align with existing standards and that requirements are documented with a corresponding change to Implementation Guidance where applicable, including the IATA Worldwide Slot Guidelines for the management of slots.

- Slot Messages, Implementation Guides and XML Schemas for the communication of slot and airport coordination information standards.
- Reviews proposals and develops recommendations to amend other related Resolutions and Recommended Practices
- Liaises with other process owning groups under the PSC and advisory groups under Industry Committees in particular the Slot Policy Working Group and the Joint Slot Advisory Group as required to meet changing industry requirements and to further the objectives of the SMSG.
- Maintains a work plan and reports regularly to the Plan Standards Board.
Slots Data Exchange Working Group (SLOTX)
The SLOTX Working Group develops business requirements for schemas and maintains implementation guides for messages between airport coordinators and airlines (SSIM Chapter 6).

The Airline Product Management Working Group:
- Deals with matters concerning airline product management including product catalogue, service attributes, product lifecycle, airline profile and product taxonomy.
- Identifies business requirements with respect to data exchange messaging requirements required to enable airline publication of a Product Catalogue and/or airline accessing a 3rd party airline Product Catalogue and propose relevant industry standards.
- Documents identified business requirements including functional and non-functional requirements and required business data using the AIDM methodology.
- Works with the Technology Support Group of PSB for development of relevant technical solutions and validate that the proposed technical solutions meet the identified business requirements.
- Develops and maintains the Product Management Implementation Guide.
- Liaises with any other governance group(s) as needed to enable the transition from Fares Management to Product Management in a world of Offers and Orders
- Maintains a work plan and report regularly to the PSB.
