Live Animals Regulations

The 2025 IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) introduce crucial updates created to improve the safe and efficient transporation of live animals. This edition includes new appendices for general information on States and Operators, updated guidelines on protected species with references to CITES and IUCN databases, and a new checklist for Excess Baggage Live Animal Acceptance.

The container requirements for pets in the cabin are now clearer, incorporating risk assessments, while new sections on horse equipment and seafood packaging have been added. The CITES chapter has been fully updated, and new definitions in the glossary improve clarity. Additionally, a new appendix details IATA-related services, including the One Source online platform and certifications.

Temperature Control Regulations

The IATA 2025 Temperature Control Regulations (TCR) have undergone significant updates to enhance the safe and efficient transportation of temperature-sensitive cargo. 

This edition harmonizes the TCR with the Perishable Cargo Regulations (PCR) and Live Animals Regulations (LAR), marking the completion of a major overhaul. Key changes include restructuring the Documentation chapter, with a clearer Section 7.1 on the Air Waybill and updated examples, as well as the removal of the "Place" field from the Acceptance Checklist. 

Handling procedures have been extensively revised, and the Glossary now defines "VARIATION," along with new sections for Technical Abbreviations and Cargo Handling Codes. A new appendix details IATA-related services, while irrelevant content on perishable cargo has been removed. The Preface also provides a helpful comparison between the 12th and 13th editions.

Perishable Cargo Regulations

The IATA 2025 Perishable Cargo Regulations (PCR) have been thoroughly updated to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of perishable goods. Key changes include clarified shipper responsibilities and comprehensive guidance for compliance. 

The regulations have been restructured to align with the Temperature Control and Live Animals Regulations (TCR and LAR), marking the completion of a major overhaul. A new chapter on booking and advanced arrangements simplifies access to critical information, while the Perishable Shipments and Documentation chapters have been revised for greater clarity. Specific guidelines on EPS, leak-proof packaging, and dry ice for live seafood have also been enhanced. Additionally, new chapters on Shipment Tracking and Monitoring and Quality and Risk Management have been added. 

The CITES chapter has been fully updated, and a new appendix now covers IATA-related services, including the One Source online platform and certifications. These updates make the PCR the most definitive guide for perishable cargo air transport.
